Water restrictions in Maputo and Matola Tuesday,

The cities of Maputo, Matola and Boane district are from yesterday and for ten days to get less drinking water for consumption,
following the completion of works in the Treatment Plant (WTP) in Umbelúzi. With nine thousand cubic meters production capacity per hour,

The treatment plant, managed by the company “Águas da regiao de maputo’’ (ADM), is producing per hour six thousand five hundred cubic meters , which causes the reduction on resource volume to the public.

The reduced water production capacity in Umbeliizi should also be caused by the stoppage of the treatment station number two (ETA2), to set four new pumps uptake, elimination of cracks and improvement in almost all circuit of that unit, according to Gildo Timótio, director of Production and Distribution in (AdeM).

Speaking yesterday to a Report, Timothy explained that the work has been going on for some time and is now at the stage where the closure is an imperative for its completion. The last stage of started work will last up to 10 days, and it is expected,

therefore, that the technical finish by 18 February current.

And the director of Production and Distribution in High explained, with four new pumps in capturing two,( ETA) will have redundancy and improved operational security, can establish and implement a maintenance plan without major constraints.

The ADM assumes that the reduction of production volumes in the range of 30 percent, will be reflected in consumers, so, there were reactivated some water supply systems,

including eight holes that serve as alternative sources in blocks 8, 12 and 19 Ndlavela neighborhood, 1 May, Singathela, Machava-Km 15, Zona Verde and Zimpeto, near the Olympic Village.
